Why you should consider a lip flip.

There’s no doubt that full, plump lips have become a cultural obsession for many over the past few years. You may be familiar with lip filler, but what about lip flips? We are here to break down everything you need to know about a lip flip.

How does it work?

To begin, a lip flip is a quick cosmetic procedure that lasts between 5-10 minutes. It involves an anti-wrinkle injection into your cupid’s bow (which is the middle of your upper lip) and into the corners of the lip, just above the vermillion border.

What does it do?

It temporarily relaxes the muscles around your lip, causing the part of your upper lip inside to ‘flip’ upward and outward. This provides your lips with a fuller appearance. It also helps prevent the upper lip from disappearing, or thinning when you smile.

What is the difference between lip fillers, and a lip flip?

Lip fillers work by administering injections of dermal filler and hyaluronic acid to increase the volume of your lips, enhancing the appearance. Whereas a lip flip makes your lips look plumper with an anti-wrinkle injection. There is less bruising and swelling in comparison to fillers, and the results aren’t as dramatic. Lip flip results can last between 2-4 months, whereas filler can last up to 10 months. Lip flips are a cheaper alternative to filler, however, they can also be used in conjunction with dermal fillers. When used together, the filler creates volume, helping enhance or change the size of the lips, whereas the botox targets muscles that need relaxing.

Who is a good candidate for a lip flip?

A lip flip is great for anyone who –

  • Is hoping to achieve plump lips without dermal filler
  • Thinks their upper lip disappears when they smile
  • Wants their smile to appear less gummy
