Dermal fillers are a quick and effective treatment to help maintain a smooth and youthful complexion and a sculpted facial profile.
Gel-like substances are injected under the skin to infill wrinkles, smoothing out the skin, thus producing a more youthful appearance. They can also be used to help volumise and sculpt soft tissue, skin and facial contours, enhancing facial features such as the lips, cheek, chin and jawline.

Initially your face will look “overfilled” in the treated areas. There will be some temporary redness and numbness with varying degrees of swelling and bruising. You may even feel some palpable lumps or hard areas. Most will settle down over a few hours to days.
Your treating nurse will conduct a thorough consultation, discussing both the treatment itself and your desired result.
The injection sites are cleansed with antiseptic solution. Anaesthetic cream will be applied if desired to reduce discomfort during injection.
Injections, massaging, reassessment and further injections will take from 15 minutes to one hour, depending on the area and the number of areas treated.
Once this process is complete, the skin markings will be cleaned off and ice packs applied to the treated area if desired.
Some areas may be painful upon injection, and some level of discomfort is to be expected. However with the use of local anaesthetic cream most dermal filler injections are easily tolerated.
Dermal fillers are a medical procedure prescribed by a doctor, and so are considered to be very safe.
However, as with any medical procedure, there are some risks associated with treatment.
Your treating nurse will address all of your concerns prior to treatment. Please be assured that our nurses are well-trained to provide care in the unlikely event of an emergency.
Common temporary side effects of treatment include: bruising, redness, bruising, swelling, pain or itching.
Less common adverse effects reported are: infections, and skin discolouration.
Much rarer complications have been reported such as scarring, blurred vision, partial vision loss, and even blindness. Allergic reaction can be mild to severe.
If you have any further concerns about the safety of dermal fillers, please don’t hesitate to book a complimentary consultation with our nurses to discuss the treatment.
