Before treatment, our experienced Therapists will discuss your skin goals with you and assess your suitability for this treatment.

During treatment, the surface of the skin is gently scraped with a surgical scalpel in small, delicate motions. The sensation is similar to a light, feathery fingernail brush of the face – not at all painful or uncomfortable.

Moisturising serums and sunscreen are applied once the treatment is complete, to further protect and nourish the skin.

For the majority of skins, there is no down-time, but some skin types may experience slight redness for a few hours, post treatment.

The treatment’s duration is approximately one hour.

Like all exfoliating treatments, dermaplaning results in smoother, brighter skin, as the dead skin cell build-up, which causes dull complexions, is removed.

Removing this build-up also means that your daily products can more deeply penetrate the skin, making them much more effective.

An added benefit of dermaplaning is that facial vellus hair (aka “peach fuzz”) is removed (until it grows back), leading to an overall improvement in skin texture visibility. It also means that your foundation will glide onto the skin!

Dermaplaning is suitable for most skin types.

It is especially suited to sun-damaged, dry, or dull skin.

Additionally, removing dead skin cell build-up assists in preventing breakouts, for those prone to them.

Highly reactive skin types, such as skin experiencing rosacea, keratosis pilaris or inflamed acne, may not be suitable for treatment. Our highly trained Therapists are more than happy to discuss this with you and assess your suitablility.

Both are exfoliating treatments which remove dead skin cell build-up.

Dermaplaning uses a surgical scape to remove the dead skin, whereas microdermabrasion uses a diamond tipped “wand” to buff away the outer layers of the skin.

Dermaplaning is a much deeper exfoliation than microdermabrasion.

Additionally, dermaplaning will remove the vellus hairs, or “peach-fuzz”.

Our Therapists can advise which treatment is better for your particular skin concerns.

Dermaplaning may be had every six weeks – perfect for maintaining the post-treatment glow!

Safety and effectiveness.

Our Therapists in specially trained in dermaplaning, meaning that they know exactly how deeply the skin may be exfoliated before causing damage.

Our scalpels are professional grade, which means that they have a special “sharpness” and are single-use only, to eliminate the risk of infection.

At-home dermaplaning by an untrained user heightens the risk of cuts, scratches, and permanent scarring. Re-using the scalpel may also lead to infections.
