From the age of 25 we begin to lose the collagen and elastin which act as the scaffold for our skin, resulting in the formation of wrinkles. Combined with repeated muscular contractions, our appearance begins to age as wrinkles become more pronounced. Anti-wrinkle injectables are a quick and effective treatment which will help to maintain a youthful appearance by preventing the muscular contractions which create lines and wrinkles.
Anti-wrinkle injectables are muscle relaxants. They are injected into specific facial muscles to inhibit the muscular contractions which create lines and wrinkles, resulting in a smoother, more youthful appearance.
Our specialist nurses will assess your suitability for this treatment. Anti-wrinkle injectables are not suitable
while pregnant, or for persons under the age of 18.
Many areas may be treated with anti-wrinkle injectables, including:
- Crows feet
- Frown lines
- Forehead wrinkles
- Brow lifting
- Lip lines
- Glabella (vertical frown lines between the eyebrows)
Results are usually visible between 2-8 days, with maximum effect achieved after 14 days. For an average patient, the results will last 3-5 months.
What is commonly though of as being “frozen” by anti-wrinkle injectables is actually the result of more extreme cosmetic procedures, such as full facelifts.
Our experienced nurses are able to tailor the dosage to provide you with your desired level of muscular movement, whether this be almost full movement, or minimal movement.
Your treatment will begin with a one-on-one consultation with our experienced nurses. During this consultation they will discuss the treatment, the amount of anti-wrinkle product to be used and what to expect after your treatment. Following this, the product is injected with very thin needles, making the treatment minimally painful.
At å tone, our nurses will provide pain relief if required with numbing cream and ice.
Anti-wrinkle injectables are a medical procedure prescribed by a doctor, and so are considered to be very safe.
However, as with any medical procedure, there are some risks associated with treatment.
Your treating nurse will address all of your concerns prior to treatment. Please be assured that our nurses are well-trained to provide care in the unlikely event of an emergency.
Common temporary side effects of treatment include: bruising, redness, bruising, swelling, pain or itching.
Less common adverse effects reported are: infections, and skin discolouration.
Much rarer complications have been reported such as scarring, blurred vision, partial vision loss, and even blindness. Allergic reaction can be mild to severe.
If you have any further concerns about the safety of anti-wrinkle injectables, please don’t hesitate to book a complimentary consultation with our nurses to discuss the treatment.
